Book movie tickets on your mobile phone

beMobile is a special version of bookeazy.com adapted for your mobile. If your on the move frequently, traveling or just hanging out, you can use beMobile to access movie schedules for all BookEazy partner multiplexes in Pune. If you have a BookEazy account, you can also book your movie tickets on beMobile.
A small reminder folks, beMobile is still in Beta. If you run into any defects or unusual behavior do get in touch with us so we can fix any issues immediately.
What mobile phone models work with beMobile? The basic requirement is to have a mobile phone that has support for wireless Internet (CDMA or GPRS/EDGE) and a mobile web browser. You will also require your wireless operator to enable wireless data for you.

iPhone : First reactions

I finally got to test/run a iPhone. Someone got it from the USA and we unlocked it, in a simple 15 minute process. Google around and you will find tonnes of solutions to unlock the iPhone. Make sure you have WiFi at the place you are unlocking, since part of the process requires accessing the net over the built in Safari Browser.

What I loved:
-> Safari Browser. Awesome. Real fast, efficient, and perhaps better then Opera Mini.
-> Mail. Awesome. Real fast, efficient and a breeze to setup if you have a Gmail, Yahoo! or AOL Account. Else too, easy to setup and use. The mail.app on the iPhone is actually faster than the Nokia E61 inbuilt mail client.
-> Google Maps. Works beautifully.

What I disliked:
-> The keypad. Needs getting used to. I prefer a tactile QWERTY. Also, if you want to type a ‘.’ or other punctuation, you have to go to a different screen and come back to the alphabets
-> Havent figured out a way of forwarding an SMS.
-> lack of J2ME support (though I think the native apps’ performance is beter than the J2ME stuff I use on my Nokia)

What I think should be added : Apple iWorks. This is one suite that should definitely be added as the default app on the iPhone. Also support for FileMaker Pro databases and blackberry connect.

Lycos Mobile

I also found my lycos.co.uk mobile access at http://secure.mobile.lycos.co.uk

Nice and fast. But, on Opera Mini3, once I logged in, Mini showed me a white, blank page. Nothing.

MSN Mobile

I finally tried mobile.msn.com and was pretty satisfied with the service. Hotmail works wonderfully (my main and only concern) but once I had read my mail, I couldn’t find an ‘Inbox’ button. Then I figured I had to click on ‘Back To Folder’ to go back to my Inbox. Funny. But fast and clean.

Palm OS Garnet VM

Access has announced an as yet free o download Palm OS Garnet Virtual Machine for Nokia Internet Tablets.  (from palminfocenter.com)Garnet VM is a “virtual machine” software application for running Garnet OS-based applications in a Linux environment, and supports over 30,000 software applications, including some of the most popular mobile applications on the market, such as Google Maps, Snappermail, DateBk5 and perennially favorite games like Bejeweled, PacMan and Sudoku.
The Garnet VM runs compatible Palm OS applications with a 320 x 480 screen resolution. There are settings to change the default storage size, display configuration and storage heap. Basic version of the Address Book, Calculator, Date Book and Memo Pad are included. Users are able to install any Palm OS application and can configure compatibilty per app (memory, display and device model). Access says they have confirmed approximately 80% compatibility with the best selling Palm OS apps and is seeking feedback via a survey on other third party apps.

emitSMS dashboard widget

Write text messages in dashboard, send through mobile phone using bluetooth. Works with most bluetooth enabled phones from Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, SonyEricsson and others.
Write the phone number in the top line, the message below and press send. The bluetooth icon color will inform you when message has passed through your phone and onto the cellular system. Hovering the mouse pointer above the icon will display additional information.
You will be charged the same amount by your phone company for messages sent through the widget, as for regular messages typed and sent through your phone. One short message can contain up to 160 characters, but the widget will allow larger messages by using several short messages if needed, as supported by your phone. When using letters outside the west european alphabets each short message only has room for 70 characters.
Widget can use phones that Address Book does not support, but there are probably phones where Address Book works and this widget does not.

The widget can search your address book for people, allowing you to refer to friends by name instead of number. Note that only contacts in your computers Address Book are searched. Messages can be stored in a text file, inside “Application Support:emitSMS widget” in your users Library folder. That would be ‘$HOME/Library/Application Support/emitSMS widget/’ to the unix inclined.
Download emitSMS 1.85 (206k).You can submit feedback at widget@algoritmer.dk but only concise and polite emails will be read and only a few of these will be answered. If you have any problems be careful to describe your phone model, any error messages and what triggered the error. Extra information about errors is available in console.log available from the Console application.
