Connect two people via BlackBerry® smartphones and ideas get bigger. Progress happens faster. Answers get smarter. So imagine what happens when you give a business the freedom to connect all its employees.

BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express enables businesses of any size to quickly and easily get started with the BlackBerry® solution. It provides advanced BlackBerry smartphone features with no additional software or user license fees, and works with any Internet-enabled BlackBerry data plan or a BlackBerry enterprise data plan.

Email, calendar entries, contacts, tasks and memos are all kept up-to-date.

Server software also optimize data before sending to BlackBerry smartphones, making it one of the most efficient smartphone solutions. It’s designed to provide quick delivery times, long battery life and low per-megabyte data charges – especially when roaming.

Email

I just got myself a Reliance Huawei EC1260 3G USB data modem.

The good thing is when you connect, it shows a disc image of a Mac installer. The bad thing is, the Mac installer is for a 32 bit OS, and Snow Leopard is 64 bit. Of course you can boot in 32 bit mode by pressing 3+2 when booting, but that isnt a good solution.

Fortunately Huawei has released a 64 bit driver which sadly the Reliance customer care don’t know about yet.

You can download the Huawei driver here. I downloaded the MobileConnectDriver (4.16.00.00).

Make sure you get your modem ‘activated’ by the folks at Reliance when you buy it. Activation can ONLY be done on a Wondows PC. Unless activated the modem wont work.
Double click to go through the standard installation procedure.

Once installed and with the modem connected, go to System Preferences -> Network

Location: Create New (You can call it Reliance Broadband)

On the left hand panel see three Huawei things come up. I selected the one called Huawei Modem

You can enter the settings as:

Configuration: Default

Telephone Number: #777
Account Name: Your 10 digit Reliance number
Password: Same as above

Now move to Advanced

Click Modem -> Vendor -> Other

automatically the Model will appear as Huawei Mobile Connect 3G Modem

Error Correction and Compression in Modem is ON
Dial Mode: Ignore dial tone when dialling
Dianlling: Tone
Sound: off

There. That should do it and you should be ready to go!
