Wish Moto offered a phone like this:

Today If I need to buy a decent smartphone, Moto doesnt offer me one. Nokia has the E61/61i/95, Sony Ericsson has the P990i and the W900 series, Samsung has the BlackJack, Blackberry has them all, so does Palm. Even Apple has one now. What does Moto have?

The Q? Sorry, but it doesnt excite me.

Firstly its yet another device with Windows. The Blackjack looks better. So does perhaps the Palm. And a gazillion other devices that run Windows. There’s the never ending list of HTC too.

What I would love Moto to offer me is a sexy number, like a Razr meets a Blackberry Curve, running on Linux, with the following features:

- 3G/EDGE/ Available Unlocked as well

- WiFi

- Qwerty Keypad (the real one, not a virtual one)

- Expandable Memory (of course)

- MS Office Document Support : View and EDIT/Create New

- PDF Reader

- J2ME Support

- GPS

- Bluetooth

- iSync Support

- Bluetooth DUN with a Mac

- Push Email

- Ability to save SMSs as text files and send them across to the Mac

What else? Cant think of anything else at the moment. I once had a Moto A780 and loved its robust OS. Unfortunately there was only so much that one could do with it.

Yatra is the single most compelling Indian mobile App for getting GPRS activated on your mobile phone. The download page is kind of slow (as compared to Google Mail app download) but it worked and I have a Nokia E61 compatible version.
The application Icon needs working upon, but launches smoothly and gives you an option of booking Flights, Buses, Cars or Hotels. The only problem I found was the City list does not scroll with the Joystick held down. You have to pull the joystick down everytime, one city at a time until you reach your city. There should have been a text entry box. Also the date change box did noty react very smoothly to the keypad, but we must remember this is only the BETA. All in all an excellent and very well made app. Wish more companies had one such app. To download it, SMS YATRA to 2622 and you will receive a link, click on the link to install application! Simple. A list of compatible phones is here.We were quite pleasantly surprised with the interface. It offers everything, including 128 bit encryption and credit card payment support!Thanks to Shaun Pereira for pointing this out.

PhotoJotter is a freeware for S60, which is a photographer’s log book. Some PhotoJotter’s features:

- record fields: location, subject, time & date, shutter speed, aperture, objective, comments
- create new record just by pressing number key
- browse database in view mode
- send selected records as plain text file via email, SMS, MMS, IR, Bluetooth- unlimited number of records
- installation package has English, Dutch, German and Finnish versions

Zyb has an amazing looking UI and simple to use. You login, a passcode is sent as an sms to confirm your number, followed by an SMS that auto saves the required settings on your phone. Once installed, you can auto Sync your phone to zyb.com’s servers. When you buy a new phone, you can sync back!

2) Mobical.net
Another service that I have been using for some time. Really simple to use, has a great UI and does its job well.

3) scheduleworld.com
A service that I first started to use. It has a simple almost Google like UI and even offers Java based SyncML clients for some phones. 

4) GsmSync.netAnother rather simple but effective service.

 MicroCalc is a free spreadsheet implemented in J2ME (Java 2 Mobile Edition) compatible with S60 devices.A spreadsheet is a rectangular grid of information, often financial information, usually used to processing payroll and other financial records. With MicroCalc you can do your spreadsheet jobs using your S60 phone.
The short list of MicroCalc features is:• Decimal math support• Trigonometric functions• Datetime data type• Data export into SYLK format• Server-side sheets storage
To install the application you can use your WAP browser in the phone pointing to http://wapindustrial.com/microcalc/download.wml and select package to install, or installing it from PC via cable, IR or a bluetooth connection.
MicroCalc interface is similar to the desktop spreadsheet software such as MS Excel, with certain limitations regarding small screen size of handheld devices and general limitations in available resources, such as heap memory size (this limits the amount of data that can be placed on a sheet), and application code size.

SymTorrent is the first full-featured and complete BitTorrent client for Symbian OS. It supports downloading multiple torrent files at the same time, is capable of both downloading and uploading and can save the status of your unfinished torrents, so you can resume the downloads after restarting the application. You can also check the status of each file inside a torrent along with several other statistics and properties during download.
Currently, it is available for mobile devices based on the S60 Platform 3rd and 2nd edition.SymTorrent is free (and open source) software, distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License. We highly appreciate any help.
