myfunambol

myFUNAMBOL (http://my.funambol.com) enables you to get mobile email on your phone, backup contacts and calendar over the air, and use contacts and calendars from desktop mail clients with your iPhone and iPod.

(for some reason, my GMAIL wasn’t connecting, hence the message. My Domain POP email account worked)

myFUNAMBOL makes it easy to get mobile email from Yahoo!, Gmail and AOL, and work email using POP/IMAP. It eliminates the manual configuration of mobile email and PIM sync for many mobile phones with over-the-air configuration. The portal includes an address book and calendar for synchronizing contact and calendar data from popular email clients such as Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird, as well as over-the-air with mobile handsets.

The portal also enables iPhone users to access their myFUNAMBOL address book on their phone, allowing them to view contacts from multiple sources and use them to place calls, send email and map locations. myFUNAMBOL facilitates the migration from users’ old handsets to their new iPhones. For more information and screenshots, see the iPhone Support page.

myFUNAMBOL is not intended to be a substitute for other Internet portals or for wireless services provided by Funambol customers but rather is meant to demonstrate how open source can help 1.5 billion mobile users easily get mobile email and PIM data on their handsets. It supports many phones from Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG, Apple and other manufacturers.

Also note that while myFUNAMBOL can perform “push” email using multiple methods (such as SMS Push and TCP/IP Push) for 1.5 billion phones on hundreds of networks, as this is a demonstration site, push email has only been enabled for selected mobile devices and networks. If you are a mobile operator or service provider and would like a demonstration of Funambol’s push email capabilities, please contact Funambol Sales.

Use of the myFUNAMBOL portal is free, however, if users use it to sync data with a wireless device, they need an Internet data plan from their mobile operator. Without a data plan, users may incur costly data charges. If you are unsure about your mobile device’s data plan, check with your service provider. myFUNAMBOL is initially available by invitation only. To apply, go to http://my.funambol.com and click the Sign up button. For more details about myFUNAMBOL, view the FAQ.
